About

The whooping crane is one of the rarest birds in North America, with fewer than 830 of them left on Earth. Wetland conversion, habitat loss, and hunting pressures have pushed the population to dangerously low numbers. Reduced to just fragments of their historical range, the whooping crane is running out of space it needs to survive. And it’s just one of the thousands of species needing conservation help. Over one-third of America’s fish and wildlife species are at risk of extinction today. The alarming loss of biodiversity is not just a threat to species but to the communities, jobs, and economies that depend on them. Your donation will do more to protect at-risk species before they slide toward extinction. Still, current funding levels are less than 5 percent of what is necessary to halt biodiversity loss. Time is running out to conserve our most vulnerable species while we still can.
